Risk Policy

If you are in the UK and in need of crisis support, the NHS 111 service provides urgent mental health assessment and support 24/7. You can also call the Samaritans, 24/7 an anonymous helpline for those in distress on 116123.

Please be aware that I don’t offer a crisis service which means that my therapeutic commitment is limited to the time given within the scheduled therapy appointment.

Due to the resource limitations of being a solo independent practitioner I’m unable to take on new referrals where the prospective client is actively suicidal i.e. at moderate to high risk of acting on suicidal thoughts and feelings.

Where therapy is in progress and the client reports that they have become or may be actively suicidal I would require joined up working with the client’s GP in agreement with the client.   This is to help support responsible management of risk and is also the condition of me continuing to work with them.

In the case where I have been made aware of current urgent care being needed which is life threatening I will contact the emergency services on 999.
